Gilt bronze, size 10 1/2 with flat faced rounded edge band, 1.7mm thick. Inverted conical bezel with two crenulated edge eye producing an owl like image. Intended to protect the wearer against those empowered to inflict misfortune and harm through a malevolent gaze, a common theme in Roman pagan religion. Surface textured from burial. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
