Silver on copper Viking shield ring which has been reduced by shortening the overlapping terminals and reshaping the entire ring to a smaller, unwearable size. In archaeological terms, the ring has been “ritually killed” to destroy its usefulness in the living world. Notable, while reduced, the terminals are still overlapped, reinforcing the spiritual significance of that detail. Some edge wear from its time of use, further developing its personal character.
