Possibly the ring of a priest. Size 7 with slightly rounded face band, 1.8mm, flaring to the hatched shoulders. Banded edge oval bezel with HS inscribed by an illiterate artisan, evidently meant to be IHS (Jesus). Spelling errors such as this, made by craftsmen who were generally illiterate, are common, particularly on sword blades. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
