Period following the fall of Rome. Gilt bronze, size 9 ½ with 3.0mm rounded face band thickened at the bottom in the Roman taste. Circular bezel with a columnar figure on depressed base, flanked by scored panels. Likely a representation of the Zoroastrian fire altar as the Sassanids (Persians) embraced the religion through the century. They rejected Christianity as Roman evil and persecuted Christians. Surface textured from burial. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored for contemporary wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
