Gilt bronze with 2.9mm rounded face band. Raised rectangular bezel with hound’s tooth border and central saltire or St. Andrew’s Cross. See Ancient Rings, Pollio, p. 81 for a ring of this form. Christianity was legalized and protected in Rome in 313 by the Edict of Milan and declared the official religion of the Roman Empire by the Edict of Theodosius in 380. The 24karat gold surface restored, with certificate of authenticity.
