Gilt bronze, C.500-800 AD. Size 8 1/4 with 2.8mm width band flaring to the shoulders. Raised lozenge form bezel with eight dot motifs. That decoration is associated with the Saxon culture, in northern Europe and migrating to England at the time. The style and proportions emulate Roman rings, though Rome never conquered as far north as the Saxons. Professionally refurbished for modern wear with a 24karat gold surface. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
