19th century, gilt bronze of iconic form with inscription ribbon among foliage. Cyrillic inscription reads REMEMBER ME. These rings were particularly popular during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 when soldiers called to service gave them to their sweethearts. See Ancient Rings, Pollio, P.137.
